Founder, Roger Peter:
Roger had spent most of his recreational life fishing. His boating venture had started when he was as a young boy of 15 who used to go down to the jetty at Port Alfred to help the fisherman who had boats. This eventually led to an invite to go to sea. After that he was well and truly hooked.

These early trips were done on a 14ft boat made of plywood and powered by a 4 1/2 hp British Seagull and a set of oars. He first obtained his own boat in 1964 from which there were many bottom fishing trips off the Great Fish River Lighthouse. He became interested in Game Fishing in 1979 when he started hunting the mighty Marlin and Tuna. He has held the South African record for the Blue Marlin and has boated and released 11 other Marlin amongst many other fine Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Yellowtail, Dorado and various other smaller species.

He represented and captained the Springbok, Eastern Province and Transkei Deep Sea teams and has had the opportunity to fish in many tournaments at various places around the world.

In his latter years before his death Roger Peter enjoyed spending time passing on his knowledege with other young and keen anglers. He also formed a partnership with Andrew Burgess and Kevin Clark two well established and seasoned skippers and anglers in their own right.

Skipper Andrew Burgess: Andrew s the youngest of the trio and has now taken over as managing skipper of the company. Andrew spent a lot of his younger days fishing commercially on the line boats off the South African coast. He then went into the tyre business with his father and brother. He became involved in the ski boat fraternity of Port Alfred and has served as a committee member for several years.

Andrew’s love is for the sea, therefore he has disposed of his share in the tyre business and has bought into 3 Way Ocean Charters as their managing skipper. He is highly qualified as a skipper and has a cheerful disposition which endears him to many people.

Skipper Kevin Clark
Kevin has done all sorts of fishing in his life. As a youngster he combed the rocks and gulley’s of Bushy Park near Port Elizabeth. His father was a great Ski Boater and from an early age Kevin was introduced to ski boating. He is very active as a club member and has fished for Eastern Province on many occasions and is a keen participant in the Bonanza’s winning many trophy’s

Kevin had assisted Roger as skipper on Sea Bear consistently over the last 5 years and has developed a keen sense of communication with his clients. His knowledge of angling and his keenness to pass it onto those fishing with him has been acknowledged and appreciated by many.
